A Portuguese Army military officer, next to an 8×8 Pandur II armored vehicle, operating a SPG Vanguard System, developed and produced by the Portuguese company Swatter, a portable jammer that aims to inhibit a drone’s command and navigation communications, as well as being able to alter navigation even by spoofing satellite orientation (GPS), during the ARTEX exercise (“ARmy Technological EXperimentation”), which took place from June 17 to July 5, 2024, at the Santa Margarida Military Camp in Constância, Santarém, Portugal. ARTEX is an annual exercise organized and promoted by the Army’s Centre for Technological Experimentation and Modernization (CEMTEx), and this was its second edition.
Swatter took part in the exercise with the SPG, an anti-drone weapon capable of interfering with the communication frequencies of unmanned aerial vehicles, interrupting remote control signals, video transmission and satellite navigation signals. Founded in 2021, Swatter is a Portuguese company dedicated to innovative Defence and Security solutions, specializing in unmanned aircraft combat systems.
It was another historic year for Web Summit, with more than 2,600 startups presenting their business ideas to more than 70,000 attendees, technology experts, investors and world-class speakers. Providing a platform for startups to succeed is fundamental to Web Summit. The format was the same as in past years, bringing together investors, scientists, politicians, celebrities and CEOs of big and small companies, and even a few robots to talk about technology, politics and beyond.
The event, co-organized by the Portuguese Army, AED Cluster Portugal, Oeiras Valley, and idD Portugal Defence, took place on November 22nd and 23rd, 2023, at the Taguspark Congress Center in Oeiras.
